Tasting notes for Isle of Jura 16 year old

Distillery bottling
46% a.b.v.

Nose is moist and earthy, evidencing some peat and hinting at blackberry pie with slightly burnt crust. Palate begins clean and vanilla, warming to blackberry and whole wheat, then moving to daffodil, quinine, and a touch of cedar plank. Finish is resounding, large for a medium-bodied malt, and peaty, maybe slightly rusty. An appetizing bitterness is left, in that one goes looking for something to cleanse the palate; another way to look at it would be that the bitterness is perhaps a bit overdone.

Suggested for:
Evening, maybe with a heavier cigar
