This bottling is a vatting of Islay malts. Nose is deep but soft with dominant unmistakeable south shore Islay notes. Nose shows meat, perhaps pork ribs with sauce (Caol Ila in the vatting?), smoke, peat, and tar. Palate shows plenty of tar, smoke, with a mild sweetness. Soft mouthfeel due to low proof. The finish shows a long, slow sustained growth of tar, at its peak very dominant; sweet notes, kelp, burnt fish skin. A hidden gem: a drinkable, interesting, very cheap malt.
